Tension erupted at Deti, a farming community in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region, after a shooting incident involving two brothers triggered violent reprisals by some angry youth.
According to reports, the unrest began when a landlord, popularly known as Mensah, allegedly pulled a gun during a confrontation and shot 45-year-old James Kpanda in the knee.

His younger brother, Jonathan Kpanda, also suffered a serious eye injury during the incident.
The attack sparked outrage in the community, with some angry residents reportedly storming the suspect’s residence and setting the property ablaze in retaliation.

According to a report by Ghana News Agency journalist Emmanuel Agbaxode, the attack destroyed several properties, including the suspect’s house, a Mercedes-Benz saloon car, three motorbikes and a jungle motorbike.
The two brothers who sustained injuries in the incident are currently receiving treatment at the Akatsi Municipal Hospital.
Police have since arrested the suspect and launched investigations into the incident.
