The Executive Committee of the APSU 2002 Year Group has officially announced the appointment of key members to lead the Anniversary Hosting and BOLT Steering Committee.
Mr George Baffour Asare-Afriyie, Esq. (Business 3, Rev. Fr. Kelly House) and Dr Linus Kweku Labik (Science 3, St. George’s House) have been named Co-Chairmen, with Mr Raymond Andoh (Arts 2, St. John’s House) appointed as Vice Chairman. The appointments take immediate effect.
The move represents a major step as the Committee moves into the implementation phase of preparations for the 97th Anniversary of St. Augustine’s College.
According to the Executive Committee, the appointees bring a strong blend of experience, leadership and long-standing commitment to the APSU community, with diverse professional backgrounds expected to strengthen the planning process and delivery of the anniversary programme.
Profiles of Appointees
Mr George Baffour Asare-Afriyie, Esq.
Mr Asare-Afriyie is a lawyer, legal academic and international maritime expert with extensive experience spanning legal practice, academia and global maritime governance. He currently serves as Assistant Secretary of APSU USA and has previously held roles including APSU Deputy Organiser and Porter.

He holds an LL.M. in Maritime Law from Tulane Law School, a Professional Qualifying Certificate from the Ghana School of Law, as well as BA and LL.B. degrees from the University of Ghana. His professional development also includes certifications from Harvard Law School, the World Maritime University and other international institutions.
He is a member of both the Ghana Bar Association and the International Bar Association, and has served on the Legal Committee of the International Maritime Organization. He has also lectured widely, including at the University of Ghana School of Law and other international training institutions, and continues to contribute to maritime law education and global policy discussions.
Dr. Linus Kweku Labik

Dr Labik is an astrophysicist, researcher and lecturer at the Department of Physics at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). His research centres on planetary formation, with a focus on how porosity evolves during dust coagulation, using advanced simulation and modelling techniques.
He also provides technical support to the National Hilal Committee under the Office of the National Chief Imam, contributing to the scientific observation of the crescent moon. In addition, he serves as Principal Investigator of the AstroXMat Research Lab, where he leads interdisciplinary research spanning astronomy, space science, materials science and energy.
Since December 2019, Dr Labik has been the Convenor of the APSU 2002 Year Group, playing a key leadership role in preparations towards the College’s 97th Anniversary celebrations.

Mr Raymond Andoh
Mr Andoh is an experienced ICT Engineer with more than 17 years of professional practice, particularly in the mining sector. He holds a BSc in Information Technology, a Professional Diploma in e-Technology, and is a Microsoft Certified Professional. He also has additional certifications in project management, risk management, environmental systems and technical communications.

Beyond his professional career, he has served since 2012 as Abakomahene of the Mampongso Divisional Area in the Western Region, where he plays an active role in community leadership and development. He is also a member of the Noble Order of the Knights and Ladies of Marshall.
Within the APSU 2002 Year Group, he has held several leadership positions, including Vice Convener of the national year group, Convener of the Takoradi Branch and Chairman of the Biennial Conference. His contributions to alumni service were recognised at the APSU Worldwide 90th Anniversary Awards Night, where he received an award for his dedication.
Mr Bernard Abaka Acheampong

Bernard Abeka Acheampong, Secretary to the Planning Committee, serves as an ex-officio member of APSU 2002. He previously spent 10 years as the group’s founding Convener and has also served two terms as Secretary. With a professional background in Governance and Conflict Resolution, he is known for bringing a structured, service-driven approach to leadership within the Union.
He has also played a long-standing role on the National Executive Council of APSU National/Worldwide, where he has served for 18 years, from October 2008 to date. During this period, he held two terms as National Porter and five terms as National Worldwide Assistant Secretary.
With this extensive experience at both national and year-group levels, he is expected to contribute significantly to the planning and success of the upcoming anniversary celebrations.
The Executive Committee has expressed confidence in the appointed team, noting their ability to support the Convener and work effectively with all stakeholders to deliver a successful and memorable anniversary event.
