Ghana’s Mohammed Fuseini scores decisive goal as USG lift Belgian Cup after extra-time win

Ghana international Mohammed Fuseini delivered a match-winning performance as Royale Union Saint-Gilloise defeated Anderlecht 3-1 after extra time to lift the Belgian Cup on Thursday night.

The forward, introduced from the bench once again, struck the decisive goal in the 95th minute to secure victory in a tense final and swing momentum firmly in Union Saint-Gilloise’s favour.

Union had taken the lead in the 74th minute through Kevin Mac Allister, but Anderlecht responded seven minutes later when Lucas Hey levelled the score, forcing the contest into extra time.

Fuseini then stepped up at a crucial moment, calmly finishing to restore his side’s advantage and silence the home support. Kevin Rodríguez later added a third on the counterattack to seal the win.

The triumph adds another major milestone for Union Saint-Gilloise, who ended a 110-year wait for the Belgian Cup in 2024 before going on to claim the league title last season.

For Fuseini, the goal continues a strong run of form after he also found the net in their 3-0 league victory over KV Mechelen, making it back-to-back scoring appearances for the Ghanaian forward.

He will now turn his attention to Sunday’s Jupiler Pro League clash against Club Brugge.
