Twifo Praso: NADMO warns chiefs over development on waterlogged lands

The District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in Twifo Atti-Morkwa, James Pra, has cautioned traditional leaders against selling waterlogged lands for development.

Speaking at a media briefing during a clean-up exercise in Twifo Praso, he warned that the practice, if unchecked, could worsen flooding during the rainy season and trigger avoidable disasters.

The District Environmental Health Officer, Richard Senyo, also urged residents to manage waste responsibly, noting an increased risk of diseases such as cholera during the rainy season.

“Improper waste disposal does not only affect immediate surroundings but also poses health risks to neighbouring communities,” he said.

The District Chief Executive, Isaac Yawson, reaffirmed the assembly’s commitment to holding monthly clean-up exercises to help keep the district clean.

He encouraged residents to take personal responsibility for maintaining a clean environment rather than relying solely on government interventions.
