Police in the Northern Region have arrested two suspects in connection with the kidnapping of a young boy in Kabulya in the Nanumba South District.
According to JoyNews sources, the suspects are believed to be linked to a criminal syndicate operating within communities along the Eastern Corridor enclave of the region.
The first arrest was made around midnight on May 26, 2026, after police intelligence led officers to a drinking spot in Bimbila where three men were reportedly gathered. One suspect was arrested during the operation, while the two others managed to escape.
A second suspect was later picked up on Thursday morning following further intelligence-led investigations.
Sources say police have made significant progress in the case and are actively pursuing additional suspects believed to be connected to the kidnapping network.
Investigators have also reportedly received information about a separate threat involving another Fulbe chief, who is said to have paid more than GH¢20,000 to avoid being abducted.
The latest development follows the abduction of young Issah Ali by unidentified men in Kabulya.
Two relatives of the boy were reportedly attacked during the incident and have since been issued police medical forms to seek treatment.
The kidnappers later contacted the family using the victim’s phone and demanded a ransom of GH¢100,000 for his release.
Meanwhile, the whereabouts of the boy remain unknown as police continue investigations and search operations.
