‘A guy denied me first class for speaking to his lady at University of Ghana’ – Abronye DC

Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC, has stated that he was denied a First-Class honours in his law degree at the University of Ghana because of a lady.

In an interview with Okay FM on July 16, 2025, Abronye DC claimed that a guy, believed to be a lecturer, whom he refused to name, downgraded his grades because he had spoken to his girlfriend.

This led to a friction between them, resulting in a lower GPA.

Abronye DC boasted about his academic credentials, stating, “I had a Second-Class Upper in law. My master’s at Legon, my worst grade was B-. You can check the records at Legon. My master’s in petroleum at Coventry; my poorest grade was C+.”

He added, “Even with law, I could have had a First Class, but there was this guy – I won’t mention his name – who said I spoke to his girlfriend, that’s why the thing (GPA) reduced. Otherwise, I would have had a First Class.”

Meanwhile, Abronye DC has declared his intention to contest for the NPP’s flagbearer position, citing his academic credentials as evidence of his suitability for the role.
