The unveiling of the National Investment Quiz (NIQ) Competition has signaled renewed efforts for the drive towards financial literacy especially among the youth.
Curated by the Young Investor Network with support from the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), Central Securities Depository (CSD) and ABSA Bank, the NIQ gathers bright young minds from across Ghana’s Senior High Schools, offering them the opportunity to showcase their knowledge in financial markets, investment strategies, and economic fundamentals.
This year’s edition ushered-in a refreshing twist as the quiz, which was formerly known as the Capital Market Quiz rebrands to the National Investment Quiz. Also, the 2025 edition will host an increased number of participating schools, 32, for the preliminary contests leading to the grande finale, slated for the November 28, 2025.
Jerry Boachie-Dankwah, Head of Marketing at the Ghana Stock Exchange highlighted the growth in value and impact of the quiz. He revealed that “we have more partners onboard for this year’s competition. This shows we are growing.”
“The whole idea is to create awareness about sustainable investments; financial literacy is key to building wealth and creating a vibrant economy.” He said, emphasising the rationale behind the quiz.
He added that the move is not just a corporate social responsibility for the GSE, but an opportunity to also educate the Ghanaian public against unregulated investment vehicles such as Ponzi and pyramid schemes.
Speaking at a short ceremony to unveil the competition in Accra, Executive Director of the Young Investors Network, Kofi Busia Kyei believes that consistent financial education is crucial to creating financially independent future.
“The aim is to equip the youth with the ability to make sound financial and investment decisions.” He noted.
THE QUIZ
Since its inception, the NIQ has grown into a nationwide movement. In 2024 alone, the program achieved remarkable milestones where 100 Senior High Schools were engaged across all regions of Ghana. The quiz which forms part of an outreach programme directly impacted over 100,000 students through competitions and investment workshops.
The 2025 National Investment Quiz will see 32 Senior High Schools battle for the converted trophy. The quiz will start from November 13, 2025 to November 28, 2025. For two weeks, young bright minds, will seek to be crowned champions in financial markets, investment strategies, and economic fundamentals.
Prempeh College won the 2023 edition after a keenly contested final, beating Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC) by a fraction of a point. The blue magicians, as they are called, came back stronger in 2024 to win enviable trophy, making PRESEC the defending the champions.
