The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has submitted a budget of $1.12 million for the Black Stars’ upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against the Central African Republic and Comoros in October.
According to details shared by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, the estimates were formally presented on 18 September 2025 and subsequently forwarded to the Office of the President for approval.
The ministry said the request was consistent with fiscal benchmarks and expenditure guidelines previously agreed upon with the association.
The two-match programme covers Ghana’s away fixture against the Central African Republic in Casablanca on 8 October, and the home encounter with Comoros in Accra on 12 October.
The estimated cost for the away game stands at $733,000, while the home fixture has been pegged at $387,000.
Expenses in the budget include travel, accommodation, per diems for players and officials, training logistics, officiating fees, match bonuses, and other essential services. For the Casablanca trip, the bulk of costs will go into player and staff travel, chartered flights, and bonuses.
The Accra leg accounts for accommodation, allowances, officials’ indemnities, and hosting arrangements for the visiting Comoros team.
The ministry emphasised that the process has not delayed or interfered with player entitlements and assured that government remains committed to supporting the national team.
At the same time, it called on all stakeholders—administrators, technical staff, and players—to uphold their responsibilities to foster a culture of discipline and performance.
Approval from the Presidency is still pending.
