Former Accra Hearts of Oak striker, Bernard Arthur has advised local players not to rely on the Ghana Premier League as their primary source of income.
According to Bernard Arthur, he has played for several top clubs in the Ghana Premier League but he was still suffering financially because he was leaving from paycheck to paycheck.
The ex-Liberty Professionals forward advised local players to deliver brilliant performances in the league to gain popularity and create opportunities to play for foreign clubs, where they can earn good money.

In an interview with KOFIG Media, Arthur urged local players not to depend on the league; otherwise, they would face financial difficulties when their careers end.
“In Liberty, it wasn’t easy at all. I’ve always said that if you’re playing in the Ghana League, do it for fame, so doors can open for you. If not, you’ll struggle.

“The league can lead to poverty; I’m 95% sure. I’ve gone through all the ranks in the league, and nothing has changed,” he said in Twi.
The footballer has played for Saudi Arabian side Qilwah Club.
