20 most influential business leaders honoured at Ghana Corporate Executives’ Awards

Twenty outstanding corporate leaders have been honoured for their exceptional contributions to governance, business growth, and national development at the 2025 edition of the Most Influential Corporate Leaders of the Decade Awards. 

 The event was organized by Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana (EFG) and celebrated transformational leadership across banking, insurance, consultancy, trade facilitation, and public sector administration.

The awards, held under the theme, “The Role of Public‑Private Partnerships in Corporate Governance and Economic Development,” recognise individuals whose work over the past decade has shaped industries, inspired innovation, and advanced Ghana’s socio-economic development.

Among the leading awardees was Chief Executive Officer of African Brand Warrior Ltd, Fatima Alimohamed, who received the Most Influential Corporate Leader of the Decade 2025 for her outstanding contributions to brand strategy and corporate leadership across Africa.

Another major recognition went to Chief Executive Officer of Amenfiman Rural Bank PLC, Dr Alexander Asmah, celebrated for steering the institution into one of the country’s most successful rural banks over the past decade.

Also honoured were Managing Director of UMB Bank Ghana,Dr. Philip Oti-Mensah, Managing Director of Dr. Edward Nartey Botchway, Absa Bank Ghana and Managing Director of FirstBank Ghana, Victor Yaw Asante, recognised for exceptional leadership and sustained growth within the financial sector.

Other key recipients included Country Managing Partner of KPMG Ghana, Andrew Akoto, Chief Executive Officer of MGA Consulting Ghana Ltd, Michael Abbiw, and Chief Executive Officer of Africa Sureties & Insurance Advisory Company (ASIAC), Solomon Lartey, all acknowledged for their significant contributions to corporate advisory, consultancy, and insurance services.

Chief Executive Officer of CFAO Mobility Ghana PLC, Adedamola Adelabu, was honoured for his leadership in the automotive sector, while Investment Banker and former Director-General of SSNIT, Dr John Ofori-Tenkorang, received recognition for his strategic influence in pensions and financial management.

The prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award 2025 was conferred on Prof. Kwaku Appiah-Adu, Professor of Strategy and former Senior Policy Advisor at the Office of the President, in honour of his decades-long contributions to governance reforms, public policy development, and management education.

Delivering the keynote address, the Vice-Chancellor of Methodist University Ghana (MUG), Prof. William Baah-Boateng, said the theme highlighted the need for stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors to accelerate national development.

He noted that the country faced major infrastructure and service delivery gaps, citing the US$37 billion annual infrastructure financing gap, an infrastructure quality score of 47/100, and investment levels slightly below peer countries.

Prof. Baah-Boateng emphasised that PPPs anchored in transparency, accountability and ethical leadership are vital for mobilising capital, sharing risk, and ensuring sustainable impact.

He referenced 23 PPP projects in the pre-investment phase valued at US$24.17 billion and 15 in the investment phase worth US$2.78 billion, stressing the importance of strong procurement and contract management.

He also highlighted the country’s growing PPP market, ranking 8th in Africa in 2023 for private participation in infrastructure, attracting US$137 million in investment, with a pipeline valued at US$8.4 billion.

On academia’s role, he said Methodist University Ghana trained ethical leaders, engages in executive training and fostered innovation, positioning universities as key pillars for sustainable PPP implementation.
