Black Queens open Birmingham camp with 16 players ahead of England friendly

The Black Queens opened camp in Birmingham on Thursday as preparations intensified for their international friendly against the Three Lionesses of England.

Sixteen players reported on day one, launching a key training phase under head coach Kim Lars Björkegren.

The squad held its first session at Bodymoor Heath, the elite Aston Villa training complex that offers top-level conditions for their build-up.

The opening workout focused on sharp ball circulation, quick transitions, and improving cohesion among the early arrivals.

Björkegren used the session to establish rhythm and reinforce tactical demands as the team gears up for a major test.

Four additional players are expected to join the group before Friday’s session, taking the squad to twenty ahead of final preparations.

Ghana will meet the Lionesses on December 2, 2025, at St. Mary’s Stadium in Southampton.

The match forms part of the Black Queens’ build-up to the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in March 2026, where competitive readiness will be crucial.
