The Amasaman Circuit Court has handed two men 17-year prison sentences each after they admitted to attacking and robbing two individuals at Agbazo, near the Golden Exotic Farm enclave in Accra.

The incident occurred on November 12.

In a statement issued by the Accra Regional Police Command, the convicts — 28-year-old Lawrence Fumato, also known as Rasta, and 20-year-old Daniel Dzoka, alias Alkaline — pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Robbery and Robbery, offences under Sections 23(1) and 149 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).

Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, explained that the pair ambushed their victims and carried out the robbery using a pair of scissors as a weapon.

Among the items stolen were a Royal 150 motorbike, three mobile phones — including a Samsung handset, a Tecno Spark 8, and an itel keypad phone — as well as GH¢4,000 in cash.

The police subsequently arrested the two men on November 17 during an intelligence-led operation conducted within the same Agbazo community.

According to the police, the swift arrest was made possible due to effective coordination and timely information flow.

The Accra Regional Police Command has expressed appreciation to residents for their continued cooperation and urged the public to remain vigilant.
