Britney Spears Checks Into Rehab Weeks After Driving Under Influence Arrest

ritney Spears has checked into a rehabilitation facility, about a month after being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Her representative confirmed to multiple US media outlets on Sunday that the singer voluntarily admitted herself into treatment.

Following her arrest on March 4, her spokesperson described the incident as “completely inexcusable” and said her family and close circle were working on “an overdue plan” to support her wellbeing and set her on a better path.

Her decision to seek treatment also comes just weeks before she is scheduled to appear in a California court to face DUI-related charges.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Spears was stopped last month after she was seen driving her BMW “erratically at a high rate of speed” on a motorway. Officers said she showed signs of impairment and underwent field sobriety tests at the scene.

After the incident, her representative told the BBC that Spears intended to comply with legal processes and take necessary steps toward recovery. They added that her family hoped the situation would mark “the first step in long overdue change” and that she would receive the support she needs during this period.

Spears, one of the most successful pop stars of her generation, is known for global hits including Baby One More Time, Toxic, Everytime, Gimme More, Womanizer, and Stronger.

From 2008 to 2021, she was placed under a conservatorship that gave her father control over her finances and aspects of her personal life. He later said the arrangement was necessary due to concerns about her mental, emotional, and financial wellbeing, adding that it helped restore stability in her life before it was eventually ended in 2021.
