The Member of Parliament for the Twifo Hemang–Lower Denkyira Constituency in the Central Region, Hon. Lawrence Agyinsem, has called on government to speed up work on the Agenda 111 hospital project at Twifo Hemang.

He noted that the facility, which was started under the previous administration, is about 75% complete.

According to him, the absence of a district hospital continues to place significant pressure on health centres and Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds across the constituency. He made the appeal during an awards ceremony organised to recognise health professionals in the area.

The District Chief Executive for Twifo Hemang–Lower Denkyira, Hon. Patrick Fiable, also acknowledged the strain on existing health facilities, pointing to the area’s growing population as a major factor.

He assured residents that steps are being taken to address the challenges and push for the timely completion of the hospital project.

For his part, the District Health Director, Mr. Daniel Baah, highlighted deeper concerns facing the local health system.

He mentioned the lack of a district hospital as a critical gap, and also raised alarm over rising teenage pregnancy cases. He partly linked the trend to the activities of commercial motorcycle operators, commonly known as “Okada” riders.
Authorities say addressing these challenges remains key to improving healthcare delivery in the district.
