French-born Ghanaian defender Beres Owusu turned in another composed performance for Grazer AK as they held SV Ried to a 1-1 draw in the Austrian Bundesliga.
The 22-year-old centre-back played the full 90 minutes, anchoring the defence with a calm and disciplined display that helped Grazer AK secure a hard-fought point in a tightly contested match.
Owusu, who is of Ghanaian descent, has become a regular feature for the Austrian side this season. He has now made 25 appearances across all competitions, scoring once and picking up six yellow cards — a reflection of his committed and physical style of defending.
In the match against SV Ried, he registered 57 touches, completed 43 passes, won 10 duels, made three clearances, and completed two dribbles, underlining his all-round contribution at the back.
Currently on loan from AS Saint-Étienne, the young defender has steadily grown in confidence, earning consistent playing time with his assured performances. His reading of the game, strength in duels, and composure under pressure have made him an important part of Grazer AK’s defensive setup.
Recent reports have also linked Owusu with a possible move to Belgian side RSC Anderlecht, a sign of the growing interest in his performances beyond Austria.
Grazer AK showed resilience throughout the encounter, and Owusu’s steady presence at the heart of defence played a key role in ensuring they came away with a share of the spoils.
