Police in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region have arrested a 48-year-old businessman in connection with the death of his girlfriend in what investigators describe as a domestic violence-related incident.
The suspect, Francis Arthur, is alleged to have beaten to death his girlfriend, Sally Benson, a well-known Kumasi-based beautician, following a misunderstanding at Ayigya-Maxima on April 14, 2026. The two were reportedly in a relationship for over a decade.
According to police, Sally had visited the suspect’s residence in the company of a female friend after receiving information that another woman had been seen at the house. However, the suspect was not home when they first arrived.
Investigations are ongoing as police continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to police prosecutor Chief Inspector Samuel Agyare, while Sally and her friend were waiting, the man identified as Arthur reportedly returned home and was confronted by the deceased.
He said it was during the confrontation that an argument escalated into an altercation, during which Arthur allegedly assaulted her multiple times.
Sally is said to have collapsed unconscious as a result of the incident. The prosecutor further explained that Arthur allegedly transported her in her own vehicle to the KNUST Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Arthur made his first court appearance on Tuesday before Her Worship Hilda Esther Wryter at the Asokore Mampong District Court and was remanded into custody. He is expected to reappear on May 8, 2026. Relatives of the deceased were present in court during the proceedings.
The death of Sally Benson, who owned Sally’s Cosmetics Studio and African’s Special pub in the Asokwa area, has left family members, friends, and associates in deep shock.

Her father, Apostle Gabriel Oppong, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of his daughter and is calling for justice to be served.
Speaking about the incident, he said the family gathered details of what happened through Sally’s friend, who was reportedly present during the events leading to her death.
According to him, the man at the centre of the incident, identified as Francis Arthur, was believed to be Sally’s boyfriend, although he said he did not know him personally.
Apostle Oppong explained that Sally had received information suggesting another woman was involved with the man, prompting her to visit him for clarification.
He said Sally and her friend reportedly waited for the man at the location because he was not initially around.
“When he finally arrived, Sally confronted him and asked whether it was true that another woman was involved,” he recounted. “That was when the argument became heated.”

A grieving father is demanding justice following the death of his daughter, Sally, who allegedly died after being assaulted by a man under circumstances currently under investigation.
According to an eyewitness account shared with the family, Sally reportedly collapsed after the assault, after which water was poured on her in an attempt to revive her before she was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. However, she was pronounced dead on arrival.
“You’ve killed my daughter just like that,” the distraught father said while recounting the incident.
He called on authorities to ensure that justice is served, stressing that the matter must be handled through the legal system.
“We are living in a country governed by law, and that is why people are not supposed to take the law into their own hands,” he said. “I want justice for my daughter and for the family.”
Overcome with emotion, he described the loss as devastating, noting that Sally was her late mother’s only child.
“She was too young. Her mother is gone, and she was the only daughter. Now she has also been taken from us. May justice prevail,” he added.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital mortuary pending preservation and autopsy.
