Nsawam-Adoagyiri gets ultra-modern DVLA office to improve service delivery in Eastern Region

The Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Selorm Fummey Philibert Amenorpe, together with the Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Mr. Julius Neequaye Kotey, and his deputy, has commissioned a new ultra-modern DVLA office in Nsawam.

The facility forms part of government’s efforts under President John Dramani Mahama to improve access to public services, create employment opportunities, and decentralise essential state institutions.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the Chief of Dobro and the Nsawam Chief, Nana Kwamena Ansah.

Addressing the gathering, Nana Kwamena Ansah praised the President for what he described as efforts to “reset Ghana” through infrastructure and service delivery initiatives. He also urged the DVLA to ensure proper training for commercial motorcycle riders, popularly known as okada riders, before licences are issued to them.

According to him, licensing should be accompanied by strict training and safety measures to reduce road accidents and improve discipline among riders.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Amenorpe, expressed appreciation to the President and DVLA management for establishing the office in the municipality. He said the project would make DVLA services more accessible to residents while also boosting local economic activity.

He further assured potential investors that the municipality remains peaceful and secure, making it an attractive destination for business and investment.

For his part, DVLA CEO Mr. Julius Neequaye Kotey explained that the new office was established to bring DVLA services closer to the people of Nsawam and surrounding communities.

He also disclosed that discussions had been held with the MCE regarding a municipal vehicle registration prefix for Nsawam, with the proposed code “NW” expected to represent the municipality.
