TTAG leads nationwide demonstration demanding teacher recruitment and automatic postings

The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) is leading a nationwide demonstration to demand urgent government action on teacher recruitment and postings.

The protest, which involves trainees from all 49 Colleges of Education across the country, aims to push authorities to grant financial clearance for the recruitment of more trained teachers and restore the automatic posting system.

According to the association, the recent recruitment of 7,000 teachers is not enough to clear the growing backlog of trained graduates still waiting to be posted.

TTAG says many qualified teachers remain uncertain about their future despite completing their training and being ready to serve in schools across the country.

The association is therefore urging the government to take immediate steps to expand recruitment and fulfil its promise to reinstate automatic postings, a system that previously ensured a smoother transition from training into employment.

The nationwide demonstration is expected to highlight the difficulties facing newly trained teachers and intensify calls for policy measures to strengthen Ghana’s education sector.
