Three suspected armed robbers have been shot dead during a gun battle with police at Kpone, near Tema, in the early hours of Monday, July 21.
The Tema Regional Police Command, in the early hours of Monday, July 21, engaged in a fierce shout-out at Kpone, resulting in the deaths of three suspected armed robbers.
According to the Tema Regional Police Command, a distress call was received about a robbery in progress involving ten armed men who had broken into a warehouse in the Tema Industrial Area. Officers responded swiftly to the scene.
In a statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Regional Police Headquarters and signed by ASP Dede Dzakpasu, it said a patrol team confronted the suspects, resulting in an exchange of gunfire.
Three of the suspects were fatally shot, while the others fled, some believed to be injured.
Three of the suspects were shot in the process and have been pronounced dead, it stated.
Weapons recovered at the scene included a Bruni mod foreign pistol, a locally manufactured double-barreled pistol, and live ammunition.
The bodies have since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue for identification and autopsy as investigations continue to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The police also commended officers of the Kpone District Command for their swift and professional response.
