22-Year-Old Okada Rider Found Murdered at Nyame Bekyere as Residents Demand Justice

Residents of Nyame Bekyere, a farming community near Akoase in the Birim North District of the Eastern Region, are reeling in shock following the killing of a 22-year-old Okada rider.

The deceased, identified as Eric Nyarko, popularly known as “Junior”, was allegedly attacked and murdered while working as a commercial motorbike rider. The tragic incident has sparked fear among residents and fellow riders, who are calling for heightened security and swift police action.

According to the deceased’s sister, Darkoa Grace, Eric left home for work but never returned. Concerned family members made several attempts to locate him without success.

She said the family later called his mobile phone, but an unknown person answered before eventually switching the phone off.

Not long after, the family received the devastating news that Eric had been murdered.

Darkoa Grace is appealing to the Ghana Police Service to intensify investigations, arrest those responsible and ensure they face justice.

Some Okada riders and relatives of the deceased say the incident has left many riders living in fear, especially as they claim similar attacks have occurred in the area in the past.

They are urging security agencies and local authorities to treat the situation as a major security concern and take urgent steps to protect residents and commercial riders operating in the community.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital morgue for preservation and further investigations, while police have launched a manhunt for the unidentified assailants.
