Bluewhale Breaks Ground for 18-Storey Luxury Apartment Tower Near Labadi Beach

Accra’s coastline is poised for a major transformation following the official groundbreaking of the Labadi Beach Apartments, an ambitious 18-storey mixed-use development by Bluewhale Construction and Industrial Ltd.

The project, which is expected to redefine luxury living and real estate investment in the capital, will be located at the intersection of Giffard Road and Labadi Road, just 350 metres from Labadi Beach and within close proximity to the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre.

The groundbreaking ceremony attracted traditional authorities, government officials, security personnel, investors and business partners, underscoring the significance of the development to the city’s growing property market.

Speaking at the event, Country Manager of Bluewhale Construction and Industrial Ltd., Nathaniel Alpha Aidoo, described the project as a symbol of international collaboration and local development.

“Labadi Beach Apartments is more than a real estate project. It reflects the strong partnership between Ghana and China and demonstrates what can be achieved when global expertise is combined with local ambition,” he said.

He added that the development is expected to create a world-class investment destination while contributing to Ghana’s economic growth and urban renewal efforts.

The project is being developed through a partnership between Bluewhale Construction and Industrial Ltd., China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC), and China Railway Construction Engineering Group (CRCEG), both of which hold equity stakes in the venture.

Targeting both homeowners and investors, the development will feature a range of residential units, including studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments, located on floors three to 15 of the building.

The development’s lower levels will house a range of commercial and retail facilities, including a restaurant, café, pharmacy, convenience store, and business support services, creating a vibrant mixed-use environment for residents and visitors.

Residents will also have access to premium lifestyle amenities, including a rooftop infinity pool with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, a rooftop bar and restaurant, a fully equipped gym, outdoor relaxation areas, and a dedicated viewing deck.

Strategically located, the project is just minutes away from Kotoka International Airport, Cantonments, and Osu, making it an attractive option for corporate executives, expatriates, embassy personnel, and international business travellers.

According to Bluewhale, the development is well positioned to benefit from rising demand in the area, driven in part by the ongoing redevelopment of the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre and the growth of the surrounding hospitality industry.

The company also projects strong rental returns for investors, supported by professional property management services that will cover tenant acquisition, lease administration, maintenance, and financial reporting.

Speaking at the launch, Head of Business Development at CRCEG West Africa, Liu Li, said the project would not only deliver a landmark real estate development but also contribute to job creation and skills development.

“Beyond delivering a landmark development, this project is creating jobs, transferring knowledge, and strengthening local construction capacity,” she said.

“By combining Chinese engineering expertise with the training and development of Ghanaian personnel, we are building a project that is sustainable in both design and execution, while leaving a lasting legacy for the community and the construction industry.”

Construction is already underway and is expected to be completed within two-and-a-half to three years.
