Listeners of Nhyira FM’s popular Saturday midday show, Aben Wo Ha News, brought their year to a refreshing close with an excursion to two of Ghana’s major ecotourism sites — the Buaben–Fiema Monkeys Sanctuary and the Kintampo Waterfalls.
The trip, organised by the Friends of Aben Wo Ha News fanbase, forms part of efforts to strengthen the bond among loyal listeners who engage weekly on issues ranging from relationships and spirituality to injustice, paternity and everyday social concerns.
The group of 25 members travelled through the Ashanti Region into the Bono East Region, sharing hours of laughter, storytelling and reflection. At the Buaben–Fiema sanctuary, they watched Black and White Colobus and Mona monkeys roam freely among residents — a rare cultural and ecological experience that impressed many first-time visitors.

Members also learned about the community’s longstanding coexistence with the monkeys and echoed calls for stronger national support to protect the sanctuary’s unique heritage.
Their next stop was the iconic Kintampo Waterfalls, where they enjoyed the misty cascade, posed for photos and reflected on the therapeutic power of nature. Several participants described the nearly 17-hour round trip as exhausting but deeply fulfilling.
One member called the outing “a once-in-a-lifetime experience” that strengthened friendships and offered a refreshing escape from daily pressures.

Vice President of the Friends of Aben Wo Ha News, Baffour Asare, urged Ghanaians — especially those living abroad — to tune in to the show as a reliable source of comfort, community, and real Ghanaian stories.
He stressed that the fanbase functions as more than just an audience group. “We are a family,” he said, noting that members support one another during sickness, bereavement, misfortune, and also celebrate joyous moments such as marriages and naming ceremonies.
Mr Asare added that the enthusiasm displayed on the trip has already sparked calls for another adventure soon. He expressed pride in the unity and excitement that characterised the expedition.
As Aben Wo Ha News continues to serve thousands with its blend of education, entertainment and emotional support, the year-end trip stands as a testament to the loyalty and dynamism of its growing community of listeners.
