Absa Bank Ghana wins 13 honours at 5th National Governance and Business Leadership Awards

Absa Bank Ghana has received 13 awards at the 5th National Governance and Business Leadership Awards (NGBLA 2025), held in Accra on Friday, 29 August.

The event, organised by the Governance and Business Boardroom together, recognised organisations and individuals for achievements in human resources, people strategy, and workplace practices across Africa.

Absa received the Best Workplace for Financial Services & Insurance – Africa 2025 award, and its Human Capital team was named HR Team of the Year (Overall).

Individual awards included Chief Human Resource Officer of the Year for William Easmon, Human Capital Director at Absa Bank Ghana LTD, and HR Rising Star of the Year for Prince Tettey Nartey.

Other awards received by Absa Bank were Best Diversity & Inclusion Strategy; Best Employee Wellbeing Programme; Best Executive & Leadership Development Programme; Best Social Impact Initiative; Best Women Development & Leadership Programme; HR Excellence in Banking & Finance; Best Reward & Recognition Strategy; Best Talent Management Strategy; and Employer Brand Leadership (Large Enterprise).

The Future Workplace Awards Africa, in its third year, is an annual event that seeks to recognise innovative approaches to workplace culture and HR advancements on the continent.

On the same evening, William Easmon appeared on the cover of the Special Governance & Business Leadership edition of Boardroom Magazine, alongside Sandra Thompson, Secretary of the Bank of Ghana, and Nick Danso Agyei, Executive Chairman of Ghana Link Network Services.

In a statement following the awards, Mr Easmon said, “I am deeply honoured and humbled by the recognition our Human Capital team has received tonight.

“This success is a tribute to every colleague who lives and breathes our people-first strategy every day.

“As we celebrate these milestones, our forward ambition remains clear: to build a workplace that not only excels within Ghana but inspires across Africa – where employee well-being, diversity, leadership development, and innovation are at the heart of our DNA.”

The Human Capital team said it would focus on applying lessons from these recognitions to future employee initiatives.
