Amin Adam rejects ‘blind loyalty’ claims, says Northern support for Bawumia is based on competence

The Karaga MP and former Minister for Finance, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, has dismissed claims that the growing support for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in Northern Ghana is driven by ethnic or regional loyalty.

Addressing supporters during campaign activities for Dr Bawumia in Yagaba-Kubori, Dr Amin Adam said it was wrong to suggest that Northerners back the former Vice President without careful judgment. He stressed that voters in the region are discerning and deliberate in their political choices.

“Northerners have been told that we are blindly following Dr Bawumia. I want them to know that we are not blind—we can see clearly,” he said, rejecting the narrative of unquestioning loyalty.

According to the Karaga MP, leaders and party supporters in the North are rallying behind Dr Bawumia because of his competence, integrity and leadership qualities, rather than shared background or hometown considerations.

“When we look at Dr Bawumia, we see a competent man, a humble man, and a truthful man. We see a President,” Dr Amin Adam stated, adding that these qualities make him well suited to lead the country.
