ARB Apex Bank demonstrates Sportsmanship, pays for surgery of injured Piwak Natural Health staff at JoySports Invitational

ARB Apex Bank has shown remarkable sportsmanship and humanity after coming to the aid of Francis Mensah, a staff member of Piwak Natural Health, who sustained a dislocated arm during the Armwrestling contest at the 2025 JoySports Invitational Tournament at the University of Ghana Stadium on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

Mr Mensah was immediately rushed to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), where doctors, after observation, advised that he undergo surgery.

In an act of compassion, ARB Apex Bank, led by its Managing Director, Alex Kwasi Awuah, dispatched the bank’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Maximus Attah, and Akorfa Kpodoh, Marketing and Brands Manager, to the hospital on Monday to visit Mr Mensah.

After being briefed by Saviour Mortoti, General Manager of Piwak Natural Health, the bank promptly settled the medical costs at UGMC to enable the procedure to be carried out without delay.

Speaking on the gesture, Mr Awuah noted that the incident was a reminder of the shared humanity behind every competition:

“We decided to come to the aid of Mr. Mensah who was injured in an act of sportsmanship, because beyond the rivalry and symbolic silverware, we are human beings first.

“What happened to Francis could have happened to any of us on that day. It is only right that we stand by him in his moment of need,” he stated.

He added that the bank’s intervention was not just an act of corporate social responsibility but an expression of true sportsmanship:

“Sports teach us unity, solidarity, and compassion. As a bank deeply rooted in serving communities through our Rural and Community Banks across Ghana, we could not look away. We pray for a successful surgery and a swift recovery for Francis.”

The bank’s action has been widely commended as a reflection of its values and commitment to people-first service.
