Ashanti Regional Minister confirms recovery of key parts from crashed helicopter

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, says significant parts of the crashed military helicopter, along with other belongings, have been recovered.

In a post on X on Monday, August 11, 2025, he thanked members of the local community for their assistance and noted that more items were expected to be retrieved before the end of the day.

“Thanks to the community youth. Significant parts of the craft and other belongings have been returned. Still expecting more by close of day,” he wrote.

This update follows the August 6, 2025, helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, which claimed the lives of eight people.

On board were the Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed; the Minister of Defence, Dr Omane Boamah; former Ashanti Regional Minister, Samuel Sarpong; Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Muniru Limuna; and Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate.

The crew members were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
