Former Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia says a victory in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries next month would signal the start of a collective effort to reposition the party for future electoral success.
Dr Bawumia, who is seeking the party’s flagbearership alongside four other contenders, has intensified his nationwide campaign, with recent engagements in the Greater Accra Region. He said the strong reception from party delegates has reinforced his belief in a united journey towards rebuilding the party.
In a message shared on his official Facebook page, the former Vice-President expressed gratitude to party members in the constituencies he visited on Monday, commending their grassroots mobilisation and continued support.
“I am grateful for the warm reception and the tireless groundwork you continue to do for me,” he wrote. “This is a journey with all and for all.”
Dr Bawumia said winning the January primaries would be only the first step, stressing that sustained collective effort would be required to return the NPP to what he described as its “rightful place”.
“By the grace of God, we will win together in January and continue with our ultimate mission of working together to restore our great party,” he added.
The NPP’s presidential primaries are scheduled for 31 January 2026, with Dr Bawumia widely viewed by political observers as a leading contender to emerge as the party’s candidate for the 2028 general election.
His campaign has focused on unity within the party, continuity, and the need for renewed commitment from members at all levels as the NPP prepares for the next electoral cycle.
