Bono Region: Assemblymember Distributes Dustbins to Tackle Littering in Berekum East

Residents of the New Town Electoral Area–Continental in Berekum East, Bono Region, are set to benefit from a new sanitation initiative led by Assemblymember, Hon. Yeboah Victor Dwomo.

As part of efforts to improve cleanliness in the community, Hon. Dwomo has distributed metal dustbins to discourage indiscriminate dumping of refuse.

He explained that the bins were deliberately designed without plastic components and will be mounted in concrete at designated points to ensure durability and prevent theft or damage.

He also urged residents, particularly students, to make good use of the bins and avoid littering, stressing that maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility.

The Electoral Area Committee Chairman commended the Assemblymember for the initiative and called on residents to take ownership of the project.

He encouraged community members to act as watchdogs to protect the bins from misuse or vandalism, and to ensure that waste is properly disposed of.

Former Assemblymember for the area, Mr. Gideon Boakye, also praised the intervention, describing it as a timely and commendable step towards improving sanitation.

He further appealed to past Assemblymembers across various communities to support their successors in ongoing development efforts, rather than working against them, to help drive progress at the local level.
