Businesses need clarity on VAT, COVID-19 Levy – PwC to finance minister

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is calling on the Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson to provide an update on Value Added Tax (VAT) reforms and other proposed tax initiatives during the Mid-Year Budget Review scheduled for July 24, 2025.

Speaking to Citi Business News, PwC Senior Partner, Vish Ashiagbor said businesses are eager for more clarity on the current tax regime.

“We expect the Minister to reaffirm that the March budget is generally on course, which has helped build confidence among businesses,” he said.

He added that the budget had raised hopes for reforms to the VAT system and the possible removal of levies such as the COVID-19 Health Recovery Levy.

At the time, government officials indicated that further analysis was required before implementing any changes.

With the Mid-Year Review approaching, the business community is now seeking clear timelines and direction on the implementation of these tax reforms.
