Players of Asante Kotoko will receive a special bonus if they qualify for the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round, according to the club’s Director of Communications, Sarfo Duku.
Kotoko have a slim lead after the first leg 4-3 win over Nigerian side Kwara United in the preliminary round last Sunday.
They will travel to Nigeria on Friday for the return fixture on Sunday at the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Abeokuta which is a temporary home venue for the Ilorin-based side.
Speaking to Nhyira FM, Sarfo Duku said “there is always a winning bonus even in the Ghana Premier League, but qualifying from the preliminary stage will add some appreciable amount of money.”
Progress for the Porcupines would set up a second preliminary round clash with Moroccan heavyweights Wydad Casablanca.
Sarfo Duku believes it is non-negotiable for his side to progress to the second round.
“Asante Kotoko is ahead of Kwara United on any platform so they should be able to account for them. The good news is that the match will be played on a neutral ground so there is a significant advantage for us.
“I assure all Kotoko fans that on Sunday after the game, Kotoko will be eligible for the next stage,” he said.
