“Create Jobs for the Youth” – Atebubu Manhene Charges Chiefs at Meko Bono 2026 Launch

The Paramount Chief of the Atebubu Traditional Area in the Bono East Region, Ohenpong Dr. Yeboah Asiamah, has urged chiefs and community leaders across Bono East and Bono Regions to take deliberate steps to create jobs for their people, rather than depending solely on government support.

He made the call at the launch of the Meko Bono 2026 initiative held in Atebubu.

Delivering his welcome address, he explained that the programme is designed to drive development across both regions.

He also encouraged natives living abroad to return home more often and contribute to local growth and community development.

Chairing the event, the Omanhene and President of the Mo Traditional Council, Nana Kwaku Dankwa, called for unity among chiefs, stressing that collaboration is key to achieving lasting development in the area.

Also speaking at the event, the Omanhene of the Abeasi Traditional Council and Vice President of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs, Obrempong Kru Takyi II, advised the youth to steer clear of alcohol abuse and hard drugs.

He warned that such habits could harm their health and jeopardise their future, reminding them of their role as the next generation of leaders.

In his remarks, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Meko Bono, Nana Kofi Yeboah Seth, urged residents to actively support the initiative.

He noted that the programme is not just a celebration, but a platform to promote peace, unity and sustainable development across the Bono area.
