The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has honoured Dr. Albert Antwi-Boasiako, the immediate-past Director-General, with a Dedicated Service Award, celebrating his pioneering role in Ghana’s Cybersecurity Development.

In a citation accompanying the award as the ‘Father of Cybersecurity Development’ in Ghana, the CSA cites Dr. Antwi-Boasiako’s visionary leadership which laid the foundation for Ghana’s cybersecurity framework, beginning with his appointment as Ghana’s first National Cybersecurity Advisor to his tenure as the first Director-General of the Cyber Security Authority (CSA).

His stewardship was instrumental from the establishment of the National Cyber Security Technical Working Group (2017–2021) which he chaired, which later evolved into the Joint Cybersecurity Committee (JCC), to his subsequent continental role as the first Chair of the African Network of Cybersecurity Authorities (ANCA) and his active participation in global cybersecurity initiatives.

Under Dr. Antwi-Boasiako’s leadership, Ghana’s cybersecurity landscape progressed from a score of 32.6% in 2017, when he was appointed, to an impressive 99.27% in 2024 – earning Ghana a Tier-1 ranking, a role model country in cybersecurity development.

During his leadership, Ghana’s Cybersecurity Act, 2020, was passed with Ghana becoming the second country globally, only to Singapore, to license Cybersecurity service providers. Ghana ratified the Convention on Cybercrime (Budapest Convention) and the Convention on Cyber Security & Personal Data Protection (Malabo Convention) during his tenure.

The award was presented by the Deputy Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Mohammed Adams Sukparu, during the official opening of the National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) 2025, held at the Burma Hall – Burma Camp, Accra.

According to the citation, this recognition is a testament to Dr. Albert Antwi-Boasiako’s unwavering dedication, exceptional leadership, and profound impact on shaping Ghana’s cybersecurity journey from its formative stage to a role model country.
