Cyril Nii Ayitey Tetteh named Property/Real Estate Personality of the Year at 2025 API Awards

Ghana’s leading real estate and green building consultant, Cyril Nii Ayitey Tetteh, has been named Property/Real Estate Personality of the Year at the 2025 African Property Investment (API) Awards held in Cape Town, South Africa.

The API Awards, which recognise excellence in Africa’s fast-growing property sector, formed part of the two-day API Summit hosted in Cape Town, from 18–19 September 2025.

With a background in banking, project management and real estate, Mr Tetteh has, over the past decade, established himself as a pioneer in the green building market, advising individuals, corporations and governments.

He is also the founder and convener of the Ghana Green Building Summit, which since 2017 has convened government officials, financiers, architects and development partners to promote green, culturally sensitive and affordable housing solutions. The Summit has, to date, attracted more than 5,000 stakeholders.

Speaking after receiving the award, Mr Tetteh said: “This award is a tremendous encouragement. It fuels my resolve to continue collaborating with stakeholders across the region to deliver resource-efficient real estate solutions that positively impact the environment, support SMEs and green innovators—especially youth and women—and design bankable, scalable projects to meet the rising demand for affordable and functional infrastructure.”

A licensed IFC EDGE Expert, Mr Tetteh has led and supported numerous international projects, including the review of green building programmes in Ghana, South Africa and Kenya. He directed the 2022 and 2024 EDGE Student Design Competitions and has overseen the green certification of several projects, cementing his reputation as a leading practitioner in sustainable construction.

Beyond consultancy, he is a prolific thought leader. As the author of the Real Estate Minute column in Ghana’s Business & Financial Times, he has written over 600 articles covering themes ranging from data-driven investment and building design to green finance.

Mr Tetteh has also championed cross-border collaboration by organising three trade missions and sustainability tours to the UK, Kenya and Denmark, resulting in the development of key public–private partnerships. Committed to youth and gender empowerment, he has mentored more than 480 students through the Students’ Green Building Design Competition, trained 180 women construction professionals.

The API Awards, judged by a panel of industry experts and thought leaders, have become a benchmark of excellence across Africa’s property industry. They celebrate innovation, quality and leadership among developers, consultants, suppliers and property owners, and serve as one of the continent’s most prestigious peer-to-peer recognition platforms.
