Dormaa Central Gets Relief as Assembly Replaces Broken Fire Tender with Water Bowser

The Dormaa Central Municipal Fire Station, which also serves Dormaa East and Dormaa West, has been operating without a functional fire tender for nearly six months, severely affecting its ability to respond effectively to fire outbreaks.

In response to the situation, the Municipal Chief Executive, Dominic Adoma Ameyaw, says the Assembly has stepped in with a temporary solution to support emergency response.

According to him, the Assembly has deployed its water bowser—part of the DRIP equipment—to assist firefighters in managing fire incidents while efforts are underway to secure a permanent replacement.

He described the situation as unacceptable, stressing that both the Assembly and the Ghana National Fire Service cannot stand by while properties are destroyed due to the absence of a working fire tender.

Mr. Ameyaw acknowledged the urgent need for a new fire tender for the municipality but noted that acquiring one is not immediate.

He revealed that he has engaged key stakeholders, including the Dormaa Central MP, John Kwame Adu Jack, the Bono Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akwaboa, and the Dormaa Traditional Council led by Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II, to ensure the municipality is considered in the first batch of fire tenders being procured by the Ministry of the Interior.

The MCE also disclosed that the municipal ambulance is currently out of service, raising further concerns about emergency response in the area.

He said efforts are ongoing to secure a replacement to improve healthcare delivery.
Touching on broader national issues, Mr. Ameyaw urged Ghanaians, particularly private sector workers, to honour their tax obligations, stressing that tax compliance is key to national development and the delivery of essential services.
