FanMilk Ghana has named Quaye Nungua R/C Basic School the overall winner of the 2025 FanMilk School Caravan, celebrating the achievement with the commissioning of a newly refurbished ICT laboratory.
The ceremony, held on the school’s premises in Nungua, brought together students, teachers, education officials, and local leaders to recognise exceptional performance in plastic waste collection and environmental education.
Quaye Nungua R/C Basic School claimed the top spot in Accra by collecting 10,989 wrappers, leading a group of five high-performing schools from the Greater Accra, Ashanti, and Western regions. All five schools were awarded legacy projects to support learning and development.

Lionel Parent, Managing Director of FanMilk Ghana, praised the students for their dedication, emphasizing that the initiative goes far beyond recycling.
“This programme is not just about collecting wrappers; it’s about fostering lifelong habits. We are proud to commission this ICT lab to support learning and innovation among students,” he said.
Launched in 2018, the FanMilk School Caravan encourages responsible waste disposal and healthy snacking among schoolchildren. Since its inception, the programme has reached over 500,000 students and collected millions of wrappers for recycling.

In 2025, FanMilk Ghana’s school recycling programme made a major impact, engaging over 1,000 schools across three regions, reaching more than 507,000 students, and collecting over 11.2 million wrappers for recycling in partnership with MiniPlast Ghana Limited.
Several award-winning schools also received development projects for their efforts. In Accra, Association Community Model Basic School collected 9,485 wrappers to place second and was awarded a refurbished kindergarten playground. Ashma Tsui-Bleoo No. 2 Basic School placed third with 8,905 wrappers, earning a new ICT lab.
In the Ashanti Region, Maakro M/A Basic School received an ICT lab after collecting 9,186 wrappers, while Windo Methodist School in the Western Region was awarded a renovated kindergarten block.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister for Education, Technical Advisor Stephen Kwaku Owusu praised the initiative, highlighting its role in instilling environmental responsibility in young people. “These students are showing that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility that must be taken seriously,” he said.
Georgina Ahiagba, Headteacher of Quaye Nungua R/C Basic School, expressed gratitude for the recognition, noting that the new ICT facility would significantly enhance teaching and learning.
FanMilk Ghana continues to collaborate with the Ghana Education Service and the School Health Education Programme (SHEP) to expand the programme and promote environmental sustainability among students.
