Finance minister commissions 7-member FIC board to combat financial crime

The Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has inaugurated a new seven-member board of the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC).

According to the minister, the board is expected to play a crucial role in Ghana’s fight against money laundering, terrorism financing and financial crimes.

Announcing the inauguration in an X post on July 14, 2025, he said, “This Board will play a critical role in our ongoing fight against money laundering, terrorism financing, and other financial crimes that threaten the integrity of our financial system.”

The new board members comprise:

1. Mike Kofi Afflu (Chairperson);

2. Albert Kwadwo Twum Boafo (Chief Executive);

3. Grace Mbrokoh-Ewoal (Ministry of Finance);

4. Elizabeth Ama Yankah (National Security);

5. Dr Kwasi Osei Yeboah (Member);

6. A representative from the Ministry of the Interior;

7. A representative from the Attorney-General’s Department.

The Financial Intelligence Centre is the national centre for the receipt and analysis of suspicious transaction reports and other information relevant to predicate offences of money laundering, terrorist financing, and Proliferation Financing (ML/TF&P), and for disseminating actionable intelligence to competent authorities.
