Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Dr. Randy Abbey says the Black Stars’ technical team will be strengthened ahead of the World Cup and Otto Addo remains firmly in charge.
His assurance comes following massive scrutiny over the future of head coach Otto Addo, despite guiding Ghana to the World Cup qualification.
Speaking on Sporty FM, Dr. Abbey threw his full support behind Addo, and added GFA’s focus is on enhancing technical efficiency which is a regular practice for major competitions.
“From where I sit, we are contracted to Otto. I haven’t seen the employers of Otto Addo call for a change,” Randy said.
“What I know is that for every competition, we have a beef up of the technical team whether is AFCON or the World Cup [especially]. In the area of the medical team, technical team whether is scouting or video analysis and we are going to have that conversation.
“That conversation is going to tell us whether indeed we are putting in place a plan to make sure that we have identified where our weaknesses are, to ensure we have a better technical appreciation of what is before us.”
Otto Addo is expected to remain in charge of the Black Stars as they embark on their Asian tour in November, featuring friendly matches against Japan and South Korea as part of preparations for the World Cup.
