The Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) has reaffirmed its commitment to community development and social responsibility with a generous donation to the Ghana Prisons Service as part of activities marking the Authority’s 30th Anniversary.
Led by Deputy Chief Executives for Finance & Administration and Operations, Musah Sibiri Hamidu and Lateef Apau Wiredu, a GFZA team presented assorted essential items, including laptops, toiletries, bags of rice, and other food supplies to the Prisons Service in Accra.
In his remarks, Mr. Hamidu emphasised the Authority’s commitment to social development. He noted that the authority not only promotes industrial growth but is also committed to social development.
“Our 30th Anniversary is not just a celebration of our achievements, but also an opportunity to give back to society and partner with institutions that play vital roles in national development,” Mr. Hamidu stated.
The gesture, according to Mr. Hamidu, followed earlier discussions between the Authority’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mary Awusi, and the Director General of the Ghana Prisons Service on strengthening collaboration and exploring mutual areas of support.
Mr. Wiredu echoed his colleague’s sentiments, noting that the GFZA places a premium on partnerships that align with the Authority’s broader development goals.
“Supporting the Ghana Prisons Service is part of our ongoing effort to make a meaningful social impact beyond our core mandate,” he said, inviting the Service to participate in the Authority’s anniversary events.
Receiving the items, the Director General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, expressed gratitude to the GFZA for the timely support and goodwill gesture.
“This donation is a mark of true partnership and empathy. It comes at a time when such support is needed most,” she remarked, adding that the Service looks forward to deepening its collaboration with the GFZA.
