Ghana Dance Industry Awards 2026: Celebrating Top Dancers on April 18 at National Theatre

The third edition of the Ghana Dance Industry Awards is set for April 18 at the National Theatre in Accra, celebrating Ghanaian dancers who have excelled over the past year.

Speaking on the Prime Morning Show with Asieduwa Akumia, the Golden Girl, on March 13, 2026, Robert Klah, Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse Ghana, said the awards aim to recognise dancers making a significant impact while highlighting creatives who use dance to promote arts, entertainment, and spirituality in Ghana, across Africa, and globally.

Organised by Charterhouse, the team behind the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), the ceremony features several award categories, including:

  • Group of the Year – recognising the most outstanding dance group
  • Junior Dancer – celebrating young talents
  • The Next Big Act – spotlighting emerging dancers
  • Traditional Dance Ensemble of the Year – honouring traditional dance groups
  • Dance Ambassador Award – for dancers promoting Ghana internationally
  • Dance Anthem of the Year – celebrating songs that got Ghanaians moving

Klah also revealed that new categories will be added in the fourth edition of the awards next year.

He called on investors and brands to support the initiative, noting that arts sponsorship remains limited despite the impact of dance in shaping culture.

“The arts sector is one of the toughest areas to attract sponsorship, but we all know what dance has done. Many dancers are now influencers, so we invite brands and individuals to take this opportunity to get involved,” he said.

Klah added that nominees for this year’s awards will be announced next week, based on submissions and research conducted by the organisers.

“Submissions have been received, and our research is complete. We look forward to sharing the nominees with Ghanaians next week,” he said.
