The World Public Assembly, a large-scale international humanitarian forum, recently took place in Russia’s capital, Moscow, bringing together over 4,000 participants from around the world.

The event, which coincided with the International Day of Peace, served as a platform for discussing ways to shape a sustainable, just, and harmonious future in an era of global change.

The central theme of the Assembly was “New World of Conscious Unity”.

The Secretary-General of the World Peoples Assembly, Andrey Belyaninov, said, “We believe the New World begins where unity is affirmed, where values are above differences, and cooperation is stronger than rivalry. The New World is a matter of shared efforts, and it is being created here and now, together with you.”

The Ghana-Russia Centre for Commerce and Relations took centre stage at the event, which was the first-ever World Public Assembly, with a strong focus on youth diplomacy.

The Centre’s Chief Executive Officer, John Aggrey, delivered a compelling opening speech on “Youth and International Trade: New Opportunities for Africa and the World”.

He emphasised the importance of empowering young people to drive global trade and economic growth, highlighting the potential for youth-led initiatives to shape the future of international relations and diplomacy through trade and investments.

During the Strategic Session “The Future of Diplomacy: The Role of Youth and Social Responsibility”, which he co-moderated, Mr Aggrey announced the winning project, emphasising the significance of youth engagement in modern diplomacy.

The Co-Chair of the General Council of the World Peoples Assembly and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, Aleksandra Ochirova, noted, “Conscious unity cannot be achieved through governmental decrees. Our key task is the conceptual support of humanitarian modernisation and the achievement of multipolar unity through concrete proposals from the participants themselves coming from around the world”.

The Ghana-Russia Centre’s participation was marked by a historic signing ceremony with the International Union of Non-Governmental Organisations ‘World Public Assembly’, solidifying the Centre’s commitment to fostering youth engagement and diplomatic relations between nations.

Through this partnership, the Centre aims to provide a platform for dialogue, understanding, and cooperation in various sectors, with a focus on promoting youth diplomacy, knowledge transfers and project exchanges.

The business programme of the forum included 7 panel sessions and over 40 thematic platforms on key areas: public diplomacy, humanitarian modernisation, values of the new world, and spiritual unity.

The mission of the World Public Assembly is to advance the formation of new contours of international partnership as a conscious unity of people based on the principles of shared responsibility for the future, respect for the moral ideals and cultural values of each people.
