Ghanaian players across Europe were in action for their clubs over the weekend, with some producing decisive performances that inspired their teams to victory. Here is a wrap of their exploits between Friday, August 22, and Sunday, August 24.
England
Antoine Semenyo continued his fine start to the season by assisting the only goal as Bournemouth edged Wolves 1-0 on Saturday, taking his tally to two goals and one assist in just two Premier League matches.
Mohammed Kudus also impressed for Tottenham, completing the most dribbles (3) as Spurs stunned Manchester City 2-0 at the Etihad.
In the Championship, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku scored a stunning strike to seal Leicester’s 1-0 win over Charlton. It was his first goal in 16 months, since netting against Southampton in April 2024. During that period, he missed 27 league games due to injury. Jordan Ayew also featured in that game.
Meanwhile, Brandon Thomas-Asante scored once and provided two assists as Coventry thrashed QPR 7-1, taking his tally to two goals and two assists in three games.
Spain
Midfielder Kwesi Sibo played the full match for Oviedo in their 3-0 defeat to Real Madrid, while Thomas Partey came off the bench for Villarreal in a commanding 5-0 victory over Girona.
France
Ibrahim Osman registered another assist in AJ Auxerre’s 3-1 loss to Nice, with Gideon Mensah and Elisha Owusu also featuring. Kojo Oppong and Salis Samed played for the winners.
Defender Alidu Seidu made his long-awaited return from an ACL injury, featuring in Stade Rennais’s 4-0 loss to Lorient. He had been sidelined since November 2024 after suffering the injury against Lille.

German-born Ghanaian forward Ilyas Ansah struck twice to hand Union Berlin a 2-1 win over Stuttgart on the Bundesliga’s opening weekend.
Ransford Königsdörffer made his Bundesliga debut as Hamburger SV drew goalless with Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Ragnar Ache also came off the bench for his Köln debut in a 1-0 win over Mainz.

Kamaldeen Sulemana made his Atalanta debut, coming on after 70 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Pisa. Compatriot Ibrahim Sulemana was left out amid uncertainty over his future.
