Security analyst Peter Bismark has raised an alarm over the porous nature of Ghanas borders with Togo and Burkina Faso, warning that the situation poses a serious threat to national safety.
Speaking in an interview with Kwadwo Sefah Danquah on the Happy Morning Show, Bismark reiterated the threat some activities along the border pose to the country.
Ive tried to monitor parts of the border around Togo. Its riddled with smuggling and the planting of cells, individuals embedded to cause harm.
He emphasized that these border vulnerabilities are enabling the proliferation of weapons across regions, often ending up in the hands of criminals.
Thats why, when police arrest armed robbers, you see the kind of weapons they hold, sometimes even more advanced than the AK-47s our officers carry. We shouldnt be seeing such weapons in the hands of robbers.
Bismark urged the government to reinforce border surveillance and invest in intelligence operations to prevent further destabilization.
