The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has announced the introduction of Ghana’s first-ever One-Day Expedited Passport Delivery Service, allowing applicants to receive a standard Ghanaian passport within 24 hours.
Under the new arrangement, applicants who opt for the expedited service will benefit from a streamlined application process, nationwide courier delivery and a dedicated electronic tracking system that enables real-time monitoring of their passport from application to delivery.
The Ministry said the service applies to the standard International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)-compliant Ghanaian passport and has been priced at GHS 2,000.
In a statement, officials stressed that the introduction of the premium option would not affect the existing passport application process, which remains fully operational.
The standard chip-embedded passport will continue to cost GHS 350, with delivery guaranteed within 15 working days at no additional charge, using courier services.
According to the Ministry, the expedited service is intended to meet urgent and emergency travel needs, including unforeseen business trips and family emergencies, where applicants require travel documents at short notice.
Applicants wishing to use the one-day service are required to apply through the Ministry’s official online portal at passport.mfa.gov.gh.
The Ministry said the initiative forms part of broader efforts to modernise passport services, improve efficiency and enhance public confidence in the country’s travel document issuance system.
