Government urges citizens to honour 8 patriots lost in tragic helicopter crash

The government has issued a national call for tributes to honour the eight individuals who died following the tragic helicopter crash on August 6, 2025.

In a statement released on Monday, August 11, 2025, by Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, indicated that a Funeral Planning Committee has been established.

“The committee extends a solemn invitation to all individuals, institutions, and the public to come together in remembrance of the crash victims,” the statement partly said.

As part of the preparations toward the event, an official funeral brochure will be released.

Meanwhile, the public has been encouraged to send messages of condolences and heartfelt tributes through a dedicated email to allow the nation to collectively honour the lives of those tragically lost.

A State Funeral will be held to honour the victims on Friday, August 15, 2025, Black Star Square, commencing at 8:00 AM,” the statement said.
