Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito says he is happy with his side finally getting a victory despite their missed chances against Young Apostles.
Kotoko, winless in their last two games, finally got over the hump with a late strike from Samba O’Niel from the penalty spot in their game against Young Apostles at the Baba Yara Stadium on Wednesday.
Zito admitted his side struggled to convert their chances, but he was glad they got the victory as it was a much-needed result.
“So now when you go to the field, it is the ability and capability of the players; I will tell you when the goalkeeper goes to the left, try right,” he said.
“I think we were troubled. I think they should back up. This is what happened on the field. I was talking, but at the end of the day, I am happy that we have won.”
Kotoko earned a hard-fought victory six minutes into stoppage time after their skipper converted the spot kick.
The victory takes them to fifth place and two points behind league leaders Medeama, with a game in hand. Kotoko face Samartex next in their next league game.
