GRIDCo, together with its National Service Personnel (NSPs), has donated essential medical equipment to the Tema General Hospital as part of its sustainable Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The donation, aligned with GRIDCo’s core values of R.I.S.E. and CARE, forms part of the annual CSR tradition by NSPs and reflects the company’s broader commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The items donated included hospital beds, mattresses, patient trolleys, drip stands, blood pressure monitors, and a dental chair.
Funding came from monthly contributions made by the NSPs from their allowances, with additional support from GRIDCo management.
At the official handover ceremony held at the hospital’s conference room, dignitaries from GRIDCo, the NSP leadership, and the management and staff of Tema General Hospital were in attendance.
Presenting the project overview, NSP General Secretary Janevy Nkansah explained that the project was identified in April 2025 following a needs assessment.
“We found pressing healthcare needs in relation to medical equipment at the Tema General Hospital, and as a team, we felt compelled to respond.
“This project is our way of contributing to better healthcare delivery in Tema to serve patients in Tema and beyond,” she said.
NSP President Ms. Keziah Nyarko described the gesture as a proud moment for the group as they round off their service year.
“The items we present today are a symbol of our collective effort and the support of GRIDCo Management. We hope that they will enhance healthcare delivery for patients who depend on this facility,” she added.
Director of Human Resources at GRIDCo, Isaac Issahaku Mumuni, praised the service personnel for their commitment to social responsibility and reaffirmed the company’s dedication to supporting communities.
“Our mandate is not just about keeping the lights on; it is also about supporting the welfare of the communities we serve.
“This project reflects our core value of CARE while aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 3 on good health and well-being,” he stressed.
The Director of Tema General Hospital, Dr. Ralph Armah, expressed gratitude for the timely intervention.
“This donation could have been given to any other hospital, but Tema General was chosen, and we are sincerely honoured.
“We assure GRIDCo and the NSPs that these items will be put to good use as we continue to provide quality healthcare to the public, including GRIDCo staff in Tema,” he remarked.
The event also recognised the contributions of GRIDCo management and staff, with citations presented to key officers and certificates awarded to NSP executives and project committee members.
The program concluded with the official handover of the equipment, followed by expressions of gratitude from the NSPs to GRIDCo’s leadership for their guidance, and a pledge from the hospital’s management to ensure sustainable use of the donated items.
