The Ministry of Health has introduced a new results-focused performance system aimed at improving efficiency and accountability across Ghana’s health sector.
This follows the signing of a two-year performance agreement between the Ministry and its agencies, covering the period from January 2025 to December 2026.
The framework commits heads of agencies to clear deliverables while providing room for innovation in service delivery.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, said the initiative represents a shift from intentions to measurable outcomes.
“This is not just paperwork; it is about making performance our culture and excellence our daily habit,” he said.
The agreement will be monitored through quarterly reviews, mid-year assessments and an annual evaluation to ensure continuous improvement. Institutions that demonstrate high performance will be recognised, while those that fall short will be supported or held accountable.
According to the Minister, the goal is to ensure that the ordinary Ghanaian feels real improvement in healthcare access, quality and responsiveness.
The Ministry says the move marks a turning point in public health administration, signalling a stronger culture of responsibility and performance-driven leadership.
