I am disappointed in my boys – Zito blames players after Kotoko defeat to Hohoe United

Asante Kotoko coach Abdul Karim Zito has blamed his players for Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Hohoe United in the Ghana Premier League.

Kotoko never recovered after conceding a 25th-minute goal through William Oduro’s inch-perfect free kick for the hosts.

Reflecting on the performance, Zito did not hold back his disappointment.

‘‘I am disappointed in my boys, especially the first half (performance), because I warned them not to sit down for Hohoe United to take the lead before we try to come back into the game. So I would say we were tactically indisciplined.’’

Tried as they did, the porcupine warriors could not find a way past the hosts.

‘‘In the second half, we came into the game and played well, but to put to the ball into the net was another issue. That is our main problem this year.’’

Kotoko have scored 14 goals in 13 league matches this season, averaging just around a goal per game.

As underwhelming as it seems, Kotoko’s goal tally is only bettered by Karela United (15), Heart of Lions (17) and Medeama S.C. (19).

The porcupine warriors are now 5th on the league table with 21 points, 5 behind first-placed Medeama S.C.

Kotoko’s next league match is at home against Dreams F.C. on Sunday, December 14, 2025.
