New Patriotic Party flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has disclosed that he heavily financed the partys campaign in his home region, the Eastern Region, during the 2024 election season.
According to Bryan Acheampong, the Member of Parliament for Abetifi, he personally funded the partys campaign activities in the region by giving 27 of the partys 33 parliamentary candidates GH¢100,000 every month from May to October.
The former Minister for Food and Agriculture, in a video sighted by GhanaWeb, further claimed that he disbursed GH¢2,000,000 to each of the 26,000 polling station executives within the region for the month of November.
In 2020, we were in government, so nobody needed my money. But in 2024, the regional chairman and the regional secretary are here, in the Eastern Region, except for about six MPs who were financially independent, I gave each of the remaining parliamentary candidates GH¢100,000, he said.

With the election for the 2028 NPP flagbearer slated for January 31, 2026, Dr Bryan Acheampong and other party stalwarts have emerged as likely contestants.
The party has opened nominations for the race, in which Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the partys flagbearer for the 2024 general elections, and others are likely to contest.
