Former Vice President and 2024 NPP Presidential Candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has declared that he possesses the qualities of integrity, competence, compassion and humility required to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the 2028 elections.
Speaking to party supporters after filing his nomination to contest the NPP flagbearer race, Dr Bawumia said the party must remain anchored in the values of its founding tradition, warning that the January 31 contest is not just about choosing a leader, but safeguarding the soul of the NPP.
“Dear citizens, as the NPP is looking for a leader who embodies the character of this party’s tradition and the values of our forebearers, I, Mahamudu Bawumia, offer myself to lead the party for the 2028 elections because I have the integrity, competence, compassion, humility and the values not only required to lead this party but also to lead this country,” he stated.
He cautioned that the choice delegates make will shape the party’s future direction.
“This election is an election not only for flagbearer of our party but an election for the soul of this party. The choice we make on January 31st will determine whether or not this party will hold on to the values that make us great or become a new party focused on deepening the chasm between the rich and the poor,” Dr Bawumia stressed.
